Hartness Automation’s Robotic Pallet De-Strapping
System offers immediate cost savings in streamlined production
operations, reliability, labor savings and improved plant safety. Designed
to automatically locate cut and remove plastic hold-down bands
that secure bulk quantities of empty cans, bottles or other
containers on pallets. The HVR4/PD cuts and disposes of up
to eight bands in two minutes.
Ideal for de-strapping/debanding a wide range of empty containers
stacked on pallets, the HVR4/PD is particularly well suited
for applications in the beverage industry
Operation
The pallet is conveyed into position on the exisiting infeed
conveyor. Unlike other mechanical solutions the top frame
does not need to be clamped as the robot is able to go into
a search mode to optically locate the top frame and cut each
strap. Strap can be clear or colored plastic. As each band/strap
is cut one end is retained by the patented cutting head and
fed to the cutter/shredder/recycling unit. Chopped band is
fed down a chute.
The system can adapt to new strapping formats and pallet sizes
off-line. The robotic destrapping system consists of automated
pallet conveying, a strap chipper, the robot tooling and safety
cell. The destrapper system requires minimal operator intervention
beyond basic starting, stopping and mode selection. It is
designed to be controlled remotely by video camera.
No
operator selection is required to differentiate between products
if the pallet height is within tolerance and the strap pattern
is consistent between products.
